David A. Donaldson to Chair The Nature Conservancy’s Alabama Board of Trustees

The Nature Conservancy announces David A. Donaldson as new chairman.

Birmingham, AL — July 17, 2007 — David Donaldson of Birmingham is the new chairman of The Nature Conservancy’s Alabama board of trustees.  Donaldson is director of community and government relations programs for Vulcan Materials Company (NYSE:VMC).

Donaldson was elected by fellow trustees to head the conservation nonprofit’s 35-member board and advise the 20-member staff.  Donaldson joined the Conservancy’s Alabama board of trustees in September of 2005, currently serves as Vice-Chairman and will succeed Cris Stone, former Executive Vice-President and Chief Credit Officer of Regions Financial Corporation, as chairman.

“I am excited to work with such an outstanding board and staff and to be a part of preserving Alabama’s unparalleled biodiversity for future generations.“  Donaldson said.

David also serves on the Board of Directors of the Wildlife Habitat Council, Silver Spring, Maryland, the Salvation Army Advisory Board, Birmingham, and serves on Leadership Birmingham’s Members’ Council.  David graduated from the University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee, with a B.A. in English Literature and holds a Master of Arts Degree in Public and Private Management from Birmingham-Southern College.  He lives in Homewood with his wife Debbie and their two sons, Walker and Ben.
